F*** Imposter Syndrome
I just want to talk briefly about imposter syndrome. I think many of our Beautiful Black lives have felt this at some point, I know I have. I’ve been thinking a lot about it lately. Not so much because I’m feeling it now, but because I had a small revelation about it.
Nigga, we had to work twice as hard to get half of what they got. If we are sitting at the same table as them we more than deserve to be there. We deserve our seat, their seat and whoever's seat at the head of the table. Keep pressing on Kings & Queens, keep doing the work, whatever you want will be yours. You deserve to be where you are, you deserve to go where you’re going. You’re a trailblazer, a glass ceiling breaker, and a standard setter. You are the trend, you are the culture.
They look to emulate you and copy you, but they can never be you. Imposter syndrome is nothing, believe in yourself and your skill set, because again.. you worked twice as hard.
From Mad Black Dad with love.
